"SELENE" by Kate Thomson at TOKYO TORCH Park completed and unveiled
August 3, 2025
On Sunday, August 3rd, an unveiling ceremony was held for the installation of Kate Thomson's work "SELENE" in TOKYO TORCH Park. The marble work, named after the Greek goddess of the moon, is installed in a way that invites visitors to sit next to it and touch it gently. This is based on a partnership agreement between Iwate Town and Mitsubishi Estate Co., Ltd., and aims to promote Iwate Town, a town of sculpture, in the Tokyo metropolitan area and promote regional revitalization and cultural exchange. Kate Thomson's work from the Ishigami no Oka Art Museum collection will be exhibited in TOKYO TORCH Park for a limited time. A sign introducing Iwate Town and Ishigami no Oka Art Museum has been installed next to the sculpture, and the museum's original floral pattern has been pasted on the floor. It could be said that a small Iwate Town/Ishigami no Oka Art Museum area has been born within Tokyo.
